2022 KCJS Virtual Summer Program

Introducing nō theatre in Kyoto by Professor Diego Pellecchia
Professor Diego Pellecchia gave us a special lecture on “Introducing nō theatre in Kyoto”.
Below is a comment from Yujia Huang (Northwestern University).
“Before attending KCJS, I’ve actually never heard of Noh. One of the beauties of a study abroad program like this is that it gives you plenty of opportunities to be exposed to traditional Japanese culture that you would rarely learn about if you only studied Japanese at your home American university. I was extremely impressed by Professor Pellecchia’s passion for Noh and Japanese culture, especially given that he’s not Japanese himself. He delivered a wonderfully balanced lecture, giving us a brief history and introduction to Noh, which is such a complicated form of art. I hope that one day I will be able to watch a live Noh performance in Kyoto!”
Thank you Prof. Pellecchia for the wonderful lecture!
