Japanese confectionery arts workshop by Akagi Mutsuyo sensei

Students had a lot of fun making wagashi (Japanese sweets) with clay under the guidance of Akagi Mutsuyo sensei.
Look at their handmade delicious wagashi!

Below is a comment from Kyoko Sawada (University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign).
Thank you for the energetic workshop, Akagi-sensei!

“Despite being allergic to the ingredients that make actual wagashi, I absolutely love the look of them and love making them. Being able to make wagashi and keep it forever is something I will treasure, especially as wagashi typically is not something meant to be kept to look at. This was also my first time using 紙粘土 (paper clay) and although it was challenging, it was really fun! I am looking forward to seeing what other types of wagashi I can make throughout each season!”
