December 9, 2022 : KCJS34 Fall closing ceremony and farewell luncheon
KCJS34 celebrated the end of the 2022 fall semester. The closing ceremony started with the presentation of the KCJS prizes, followed by presentations/performances by 6 students.

The KCJS program prizes were awarded to the following students.

Excellence in Japanese Performance Award :Mary Willson (Tufts University)
The award honors the leadership and contributions of Ginger Marcus, professor of Japanese at Washington University in St. Louis and chair of the KCJS board from 2005 to 2011. Granted by the KCJS core faculty, the awardee demonstrated the most outstanding linguistic improvement during their term at KCJS.
スミス賞(CIP)リサ・モートン
Excellence in Community Involvement Award : Lisa Morton (Cornell University)
This award honors the leadership and contributions of Henry D. Smith II, KCJS director from 2005-2011. The awardee exemplifies the program’s aim of fostering direct, personal engagement with the people and organizations of Kyoto in ways that advance linguistic fluency, cultural literacy, and cross-cultural understanding.
Megan Chen (Emory University) and Jasmine Williams (Hamilton College) performed Karate
Angelie Miranda (University of Chicago) showed her calligraphy work
Alyssa Willeford (Vassar College) performed shamisen
Fabiora Alvarez (Hamilton College) and Mary Willson (Tufts University) performed dance
