Tue. Jan. 31. 2023Social gathering with local students

On January 25, KCJS held a social gathering with local students. Despite the heavy snow, 15 local students and 18 KCJS students participated in the activity!

Geetanjali Gandhe (KCJS34 Spring, University of Virginia) shared her comments below:

“Yesterday, KCJS and local students participated in an intercultural mixer with local students from different universities and backgrounds. We talked in pairs of two for three consecutive rounds, introducing ourselves and then letting the conversation flow from there. The format kind of resembled speed dating, which is super Japanese, but then I noticed nobody really mentioned the interesting format, which is also super Japanese. Personally, the intercultural mixer was a grand success, as I was able to recruit three of my partners to come to see Kinkakuji in the snow with me. For those who are not so inclined to strike up conversation with strangers, I would still encourage them to step out of their comfort zone and make an effort to get to know your conversation partner – they too, are there to make meaningful connections!”
