Tue. Jan. 31. 2023Kinkakuji temple covered with snow

Here’s Yang Jiarui (KCJS34 Spring, Cornell University)’s adventure after the meet-up event with local students!
“After the meeting with local students, we went to Kinkakuji or the Temple of the Golden Pavilion. Kinkakuji is a popular tourist attraction year-round, but the winter season is exceptional. I was blown away by the sight of it. A large garden and a pond surround the temple itself. It was snowing, adding a tranquil atmosphere to the temple. The golden pavilion, with its distinctive three-tiered roof, stands in stark contrast to the white snow surrounding it, making it seem even more magnificent. I couldn’t help but marvel at the beauty of the temple in the snow.
Afterward, we went to a coffee shop with local students to have matcha cake. It was a lot of fun, and we chatted and laughed together. It was such a great experience.”
