Zoom meeting with ANT-Hiroshima and Hiroshima visit

Lola Simon(KCJS34 Spring, Brown University) shared her report:

“D-class was given the opportunity to speak over zoom to the director of ANT Hiroshima,  Watanabe Tomoko, and current ANT interns in advance of the KCJS spring trip to Hiroshima. ANT is an NGO based in Hiroshima, Japan, that pursues projects in international cooperation, international peace-building, and peace education, motivated by Hiroshima’s experience and memories of the atomic bomb. In preparation for our meeting, we watched interviews conducted by ANT of survivors of the atomic bomb and prepared questions to ask in response. Director Watanabe and her interns were kind enough to respond to each of our questions individually during class. We were able to meet Watanabe and some of the interns we spoke to in person during our visit to the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, a museum dedicated to documenting the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in World War II. Through ANT, we were able to learn more about the importance of memory, peace, and education in ensuring that Hiroshima is never repeated or forgotten. ”
